A 12-strand single braid of SK78 HMPE. Torque-free, hand-spliceable in the field, and the highest strength-to-weight in the catalogue: the rope that replaces wire.

When to specify this

Choose Apex-12 when handling weight, deck safety or snap-back energy governs. Choose Meridian-DB for a rough coaming or a self-tailing jaw.

Engineering notes

  • Torque-free and hockle-free. Will not build twist under repeated loading
  • Field-spliceable with a fid. Full strength, no tools or resin
  • Floats. Under a tenth the recoil energy of a steel equivalent
  • Heat-set and pre-stretched: published elongation is what you get

Weights are nominal and vary ±5% with finish and coating. Elongation measured on new rope after bedding-in; expect higher values on the first cycle. Splice efficiency assumes a correctly made splice with the specified bury length.
