An HMPE braided core inside a polyester braided cover. Most of full HMPE's strength, with polyester grip, UV life and abrasion at the hardware.

When to specify this

The compromise worth making on running rigging: strength where you need it, durability where the rope touches the boat. Published MBS is the core's alone.

Engineering notes

  • Roughly 2.5× the strength of all-polyester at equal diameter
  • Cover strippable at the tail for weight saving on halyards
  • Grips clutches and self-tailers far better than bare HMPE
  • Colour-coded covers for line identification across a rig

Minimum break strength is the value we publish and test to — not an average, and not a working load. Divide by your design factor before putting a number on a drawing.

Weights are nominal and vary ±5% with finish and coating. Elongation measured on new rope after bedding-in; expect higher values on the first cycle. Splice efficiency assumes a correctly made splice with the specified bury length.
